Highlight: Agile Development – Best Practices from ABB to ZF

Agile has been the focus of the Vector Forum 2018 on 28. June in Stuttgart. ABB, Bosch, Essence, Ford, ZF and Vector shared hands-on information on the hot topic of Agile in Practice. Examples include agile for safety, agile scaling, agile HW and systems engineering, and appropriate tools. Around 120 attendees made the 12th Vector Forum a success and showed the relevance of agile development.

Practice: Agile Systems Engineering at Ford

Systems Engineering today is mandatory for complex development across industries. Our Ford case study shows how to practically implement agile systems engineering—on a global scope. Vector Consulting has supported Ford over several years to establish such agile framework and coaching. Distributed agile teams, consistency and early increments on systems level improve efficiency. Our industry projects show 20-30% performance gains, primarily due to shorter cycle times.

Focus: Benchmark Global Product Development

Follow-the-sun has evolved to follow-the-talent. Products increasingly are developed in virtual distributed teams using agile set-up. Our benchmark provides results from an empirical field study with twenty companies on product management in its global context. What are the best practices to improve lead time, quality and delivery commitments with global product development?

Stimulus: Follow Your Values

You want to escape the hamster wheel? You are looking for a sustainable source to recharge? As a matter of fact, we all do. A promising start is to identify your core values—what you value the most in life. Spend time with family? Read a good book? Take a walk in the wild? Values give us a sense of purpose. Values bring about happiness and fulfillment as desire and reality come as one. Prioritize your values and translate them to your everyday actions. This is most demanding, as you need to map a value like "deepen the relationship with familiy and friends" towards your schedule. For example, block one hour each day to have breakfast with your family or have dinner. Once the first goals are achieved, your energy will rise for the next steps.
